Officials continue to search for the people aboard a US Airways jetliner that crashed in a storm in Oklahoma early Friday night.
At least two people were critically injured in the collision, but authorities were looking for others.
Witnesses said that the Boeing 737 carrying more than 250 people was on course for Tulsa International Airport, where it was expected to land for dinner with a family. But the pilot announced that it was time to make an emergency landing and they had to turn back as the weather worsened and they had to abandon their plans, witnesses said.
By late Friday afternoon, there were reports that the plane had crashed, as well as that the victims had bee카지노 게임n killed.
Tulsa Emergency Services spokesman David Gebhard confirmed that the cause of the crash, which took place about 7:40 p.m. Friday, was „a small landing.“ There were no reports of damage or passengers being taken to hospitals, he said.
Gebhard said investigators were still gathering information at the scene and were still trying to determine the exact cause of the plane’s demise, although he said it appeared the plane was in bad weather and the engine had lost power before it crashed.
He said the aircraft and its six passengers were in an emergency landing about 40 miles north of Oklahoma City when the flight’s engine failed in rough weather.
After it touched down, the pilot annou포커nced it was over Oklahoma. He later confirmed that at least two people — both co-pilots — were killed and others were injured, including three crew members — all of them crew members aboard the plane.
As of 3 p.m., Gebhard said: „We have no immediate information at this point. There is a large number of inquiries still ongoing and I wouldn’t make a comment on that at this time.“
Authorities, however, believe that the fatal injuries have also been caused by the lack of power that night, Gebhard said. „They appear to be people that may have fallen out of the clouds,“ he said. „They were unconscious when they were landed, not in critical condition.“
Boeing spokesman Chris Donahue had no immediate comment on what led to the crash.
